SlashaLo’s Introduction to Vaping
SlashaLo switched work shifts to the 4-11pm shift, which is mainly break-fix. Since there was nothing to do, they would go to the smoke pit. He started to smoke again, and realized that he still hated it. He decided to try vaping, and has been vaping since.
The Leap Into DIY Mixing
He likes to know how things work. SlashaLo wanted to know what was in the E-Liquid, after some research, he realized it was not hard or expensive. Therefore, he delved in, and enjoyed mixing. He started by doing a quick Google search and found Wayne Walker’s DIYorDie network. Once there, he branched out into other YouTube pages, eventually stumbling on to Fresh03’s channel, as well as Brian from Vapor Chronicles.
SlashaLo’s Suggestions For Those That Want to Get Into DIY But Are Intimidated or Unsure
“Just jump in. The longer you wait, the harder it is to get in due to fear/anxiety.” A tip of his would be: “Go find a flavor profile you want to try, and find a highly rated recipe, buy 10mL bottles of the flavor needed, and try it. You have a better chance of enjoying a higher rated recipe, and whether or not you enjoy it, you know have flavors to play around with.” A mistake he has made: “Trying to make my own mixes without knowing how flavors tastes, percentages to use, etc. Use other peoples recipes at first, it is a life safer.” One of his favorite things is to find existing foods, mainly desserts, and trying to translate them to vape form.
Vape Community Involvement
The main place people see him would be on Fresh03’s “Satur-diy’ing with Friends” YouTube show. They do their best to answer community questions, push for vape advocacy, and give people new mixes to try. Fresh03 invited him on in the past and has given him an open invitation to be on his show. He has also done a few other YouTube bits here and there. While not being as active as he has been in the past, he browses Reddit, answering questions or giving input.

What is The Best Way For People to Advocate for Vaping?
“It sounds cliché, but write your local and state representatives. They are the ones that eventually vote on the laws that effect us. Let them know how you feel. You can also donate to one of several advocacy groups, giving them the finances to keep fighting. Answer questions knowledgeably if someone has one, do not look down on someone because they have what you think is a stupid question. We were all new to this at some point and all needed help.”
